Multiplication is hard work.  Not just in arithmetic but in any essence of life.   In the kingdom of God, multiplication is a big word.  We were called to "make disciples" not just "build them."   If God's people are to "make disciples" then we ought to "build them" in a way that focuses on multiplying themselves.
