Keep an Eye on Your Flock

Image
Scripture Reading: Proverbs 27:23-27 (NIV) "Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds; for riches do not endure forever, and a crown is not secure for all generations. When the hay is removed and new growth appears and the grasses from the hills are gathered in, the lambs will provide you with clothing, and the goats with the price of a field. You will have plenty of goat's milk to feed your family and to nourish your female servants." Devotional Thought: In a quaint village nestled among rolling hills, there was a seasoned shepherd named Elias. Known for his wisdom and diligence, Elias was respected by all for his unwavering commitment to his flock. His sheep were not only a source of sustenance but also a symbol of his lifelong stewardship. One crisp autumn morning, Elias noticed that the hills were covered in a fresh layer of grass, signaling a change in the season. While the village was abuzz with preparations for the harves...

How Do We Plan So Our Dreams Come True

Image
Our lives are a field of dreams.  When we were young, we had ambitions.  As a student we dreamed to excel.  As a worker we dare to climb the next position.  As a family person, we pray that our children will do better than us.  We dream, we secure but many times, we long for more.  But what do you do when your time is short and your breath seems come to an end?  Keep dreaming.  Why?  Because we serve a transcendent God and our dreams can live on.  King David realized that his time is short but he desired to build a temple for the Lord.  Here are few things we can learn from him in 2 Chronicles 22. He defined his dream, 22:1 He recognized his hesitations, 22:5 He listened to God, 22:8 He discipled and trained, 22:11 He provided and planned, 22:14 He broadened his network, 22:18 His dream may have not been seen during his lifetime, but he took the steps to secure a future.  While we recognize you can only do as much, trust in God...

Finishing well is an important trait of a believer.   Matt. 24:13-14,  13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 10:22, And you will be hated by all for my name's sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. James 1:12 ESV,  Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty, or thirty times what was sown.” James 1:12 (NIV) “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive th...

Genesis 9: Takeaways.

Image
Take Aways from Genesis 9  1.  v. 4-5, The issue of eating meat with blood was a requirement in the time of Noah to instill the sanctity of every life. It is not just a prohibition for humans but for all creatures.   Verse 5 says, "I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each human being too, I will demand an accounting for the life of another human being." In the Levitical system, God would command the Israelites to be ceremonially clean before him by not partaking of any forbidden foods, particularly blood of any flesh (Leviticus 17:13-14)  For the life of all flesh – its blood is its life. Therefore I say to the Israelite people: You shall not partake of the blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood. Anyone who partakes of it shall be cut off”  Jesus would demystify the thinking that what comes inside the mouth of man is what makes them unclean.  Jesus said, it is what comes out from the mouth (Mark 7:20-23).  ...
