The Main Event Witnessing strategy - (Pacquiao and Mayweather Fight)


Sports have been a crucial element in American life.  From Basketball, to Football and now to Boxing.  In many ways, pre-evangelism can occur in any of these.

THE MAIN EVENT. Everyone's ears and eyes will be turned to the biggest boxing fight of the century, Pacquiao and Mayweather, May 2 at MGM.  What people don't know is that there's an embedded spiritual message behind this fight.  Manny Pacqquio, who turned to Jesus five years ago, had found a reason for why this main Event is the Main Event.

MANNY'S STORY.  It's not the money nor the prize, but to Manny, it's a platform to share Jesus to others  (click here).  Manny shares his story of how his life was aimless and littered by many things and yet without direction.  In his testimony, he recalls how one day, he couldn't find satisfaction in all of these.  It was then that he heard the voice of the Lord in a dream.  Days later, he would discover the word and discover a rich relationship with Jesus.

Manny is not a sinlesss person but a saint in progress like you and me.  He confesses that he is not perfect, but others can tell that his life was truly given to God because of the many changes (click here).  This is practically true to one of his recent bouts with Bradley.  During an interview, Manny releases a bomb shell to Bradley, not to win the fight, but to be with Jesus (click here).

As an ambassador of the Lord, now Manny uses his fame and platform to share Jesus.  In the recent Nepal earthquake, he gave a summon to everyone to pray (click here).  Even in the last days before the fight, he had no other agenda but to seek the Lord and to bring others to Him.

As you watch the Pacquiao and Mayweather fight - don't forget that this is the Main Event.  And that those who hears Manny's message are the winners.

AN OUTREACH STRATEGY.  If you are hosting a Pacquiao fight, may I encourage you to play one of these clips to your guests and offer them the opportunity to hear the gospel of Jesus.  Here's a schedule you can follow:

*1 hour before the fight - show any of the short clips
*Follow up with a short gospel presentation
*While heads are bowed, ask for any commitment to follow Jesus
*Close in prayer
*Thank the people who have come, most especially those who made decision to follow Jesus.  Encourage them to talk to someone about the decision they have made.
*Distribute a comment card where people can write down if they have questions or they made a decision.  Collect them afterwards.
