Topic: The Necessary Next Step
Text:   Acts 8:26-40; Romans 6:1-4


Introduction:

  • Next steps are crucial to growth, progress and success
  • Next steps define ambition and courage
Today's lesson is about taking the next necessary steps.   There are steps we take that are not important.  They zap out of life and waste effort.  

Read:  Acts 8:26-40
  • Who are the characters in this story and describe them? 
  • What was the Eunuch doing when Philip met him? 
  • What questions did the Eunuch ask Philip?
  • How did Philip respond to the Eunuch requests?
Read:  Romans 6:1-4
  • What issue was the church addressing in verse 1 and why is that an important question to ask? 
  • What was Paul's emphatic response to this question?
  • Is the baptism here literal or spiritual?  
  • Why is the illustration of baptism  important to answer this issue?

The Urgency of Next Steps
The Ethipioan Eunuch describes how important next steps are: 
  1. The person understand their next steps clearly when they are in the word
  2. The believer is encouraged to take the next steps when they are surrounded by believers.  
  3. Spiritual next steps are very practical
The Essence of Next Steps
  1. Next steps gives clarity of vision
  2. Next steps have greater impact than we think

Conclusion:   There is not a moment that we are not faced with choices.   But what you chose can slide you forward or slip you backwards.  Every time you take your next step:  
  1. look into the word, 
  2. consult with a christian, 
  3. and take smaller steps if big steps are harder.
